Welcome to Abundance2Give Podcast. In this episode, our co-hosts Justin and Maricruz engage in a heartfelt conversation with John Rubey, Director of Sales, who is deeply involved in various charitable endeavors, including the Boys to Men group. In this episode, they explore the profound importance of providing a platform for boys to be heard and understood, especially when growing up without a father figure.
The Boys to Men organization is dedicated to guiding typically fatherless boys from seventh or eighth grade through high school, helping them navigate the journey from boys to men. John Rubey emphasizes that these young boys are not looking to be told what to do or how to do it; instead, they yearn to have their voices heard and to be accepted for who they are.
Mentoring through Boys to Men is an intensive process, including a workshop called RTF (Reclaiming Your Teenage Fire), where adult men step into their old teenage selves' shoes to better understand the boys they are mentoring. The program's core philosophy is to gently guide these boys through their transition to manhood, allowing them to feel heard and accepted for their true selves. This unique approach fosters connections between mentors and boys that transcend the pre-existing expectations that often exist between fathers and sons.
The episode highlights the myriad ways in which individuals can give back to their communities in abundance, with a special emphasis on mentorship programs like Boys to Men. It serves as a testament to the significance of guiding and supporting children, especially those facing challenges in the absence of paternal figures.
Tune in to this week's episode of Abundance2Give to gain insights from John Rubey about the Boys to Men charity and the importance of creating a space for young boys to express themselves and embark on their journey to manhood.
